Lavender Lemonade

Summer seems to beg for lemonade and we love this lavender version.  Lavender grows almost anywhere and returns after the Winter in the Southeast.  It can also be grown in a pot for year round use.  This recipe uses honey as a sweeter versus processed sugar.  We enjoy the floral quality that it adds.  Sugar will work, although it will take more sugar to get the lemonade sweet enough (approximately a cup).

INGREDIENTS:

  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 1 1/2 cups steaming hot water
  • 1 cup fresh lemon juice
  • 1 Tablespoons of fresh lavender  blooms
  • A few sprigs of leaves

INSTRUCTIONS:

  • Dissolve honey in water
  • Add lavender leaves and flowers to water
  • Add lemon juice
  • Allow mixture to cool and transfer to an ice filled pitcher
