Ingredients
- 4 cups (about 1 lb.) powdered sugar (confectioners’ sugar)
- 5 tablespoons warm water
- 3 tablespoons meringue powder
Tools
- Electric hand mixer or stand mixer
- Large bowl
- Spatula
- Icing bag
- Piping tools
- Wilton food color paste
Instructions
- Beat all ingredients (except color) well until stiff peaks form. 7 to 10 minutes. A stiffer consistency is better for outlining. You may add a few drops of water to thin it for “flooding” or covering a cookie.
- Divide your icing to create multiple colors. Mix a small amount of food coloring in until your desired color is reached.
- Cover icing to prevent drying as you work.
- Add to pastry bag with desired tips.
