Hummus is so easy to make and this home made version is heads and shoulders above anything you can buy in the store.


  • 2  cans (15 ounce) chickpeas, drained and rinsed
  • juice of 2 lemons
  • 1/2 Tablespoon of lemon zest
  • 4 cloves garlic, sautéed or 1 TBSP dry
  • 1-1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 1/2 cup tahini
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil {plus extra to drizzle)
  • 1/4 cup of water (more if needed for creamy texture)
  • Pepper to taste
  • Garnish with
    • minced parsley
    • toasted pine nuts
    • cumin
    • tumeric
    • olive oil drizzle


Place all ingredients in a food processor or blender and pure until smooth.  Season to taste, garnish with herbs and pine nuts. Drizzle with olive oil.   Serve.
